The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Gustave A. Ringelman, United States Navy (Reserve Force), for extraordinary heroism as an officer of the U.S.S. TICONDEROGA during the engagement of that vessel with an enemy submarine, 30 September 1918.
