The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Ensign Frederick A. Olsen, United States Navy (Reserve Force), for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service while in Command of the U.S.S. C-178, engaged in the important and hazardous work of clearing the North Sea of mines during World War I.
