The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant (MC) Robert Mueller, United States Navy, for extraordinary heroism while serving as Surgeon of Second Battalion, Sixth Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F., during the Meuse-Argonne offensive, 1 November 1918 to 11 November 1918. Lieutenant Mueller advanced with leading elements of his battalion exposed to machine-gun fire and barrages; entered areas under heavy bombardment to go personally to the aid of wounded.
