The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant Commander Wallace Ludwig Lind, United States Navy, for distinguished service in the line of his profession as Executive Officer of the U.S.S. PRESIDENT LINCOLN, in so efficiently organizing, instructing, and drilling the crew of that vessel so that everything possible was done to save the ship after she was torpedoed on 31 May 1918.
