The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Fireman First Class Frank C. Hunt, United States Navy, for heroism at his own risk of life. Fireman First Class Hunt performed most meritorious service to the Government in entering the engine room of the U.S.S. CUYAMA on 19 September 1918, when filled with ammonia fumes, and performed rescue and repair work.
