The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant Archie Edward Glann, United States Navy, for extraordinary heroism as an officer of the U.S.S. O-6 when that vessel was fired upon in an awash condition and hulled six times, on 7 August 1918, in going on deck while the vessel was under fire, to signal and to open up the conning tower, which was flooded and inaccessible from below.
