The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade George S. Dole, United States Navy (Reserve Force), for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service while in Command of the U.S.S. C-354, engaged in the important and hazardous work and clearing the North Sea of mines during World War I.
