The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Seaman Henry Borgman, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service rendered during the very serious epidemic of influenza on board the U.S.S. VON STEUBEN, in rescuing a delirious patient who, after assaulting another patient, attempted to jump over-board.
