The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Ensign Harry E. Betzig, United States Navy (Reserve Force), for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in the line of his profession while in Command of the U.S.S.C. #181, a mine sweeper engaged in the difficult and hazardous work of removing the mines of the North Sea Mine Barrage during World War I.
