The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant Leon H. Ackerman, United States Navy (Reserve Force), for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service while in Command of the U.S.S. JOHN GRAHAM engaged in the important and hazardous work of clearing the North Sea of mines of the North Sea Mine Barrage during World War I.
