The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Willett Arthur Stair (MCSN: 94174), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the Headquarters Company, Sixth Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F., in action near Torcy, France, 4 June 1918. As a member of a raiding patrol, Private Stair displayed great courage and devotion by fearlessly entering extremely dangerous areas and obtaining information imperatively necessary to the success of subsequent operations.
