    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Wilbert Wilcox Sinclair (MCSN: 85297), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the Fifty-Fifth Company, Fifth Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F., in action near Beaumont, France, 10 November 1918. Private Sinclair, alone, reconnoitered the position of enemy machine-guns which were holding up the advance of his company across the Meuse. After he had located them, he silenced the fire of two guns, thus making possible the continuance of his company’s advance.
