The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to First Lieutenant James McB. Sellers (MCSN: 0-3301), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the 80th Company, 6th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F. in action 6 June 1918, at Bouresches, France. At a critical period of the attack, First Lieutenant Sellers was selected to transport a message of the extreme importance of which he was cognizant. In order to execute his mission he had to pass through a heavy artillery bombardment of high-explosive and gas shells. Although seriously wounded while making the trip, he successfully executed his mission.
