The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Navy Cross (Posthumously) to First Lieutenant John G. Schneider, Jr. (MCSN: 0-1835), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the 6th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F. in action near the Forest of Argonne, France, 1 November 1918. Although he was painfully wounded, First Lieutenant Schneider continued to advance with his command until he was wounded a second time.
