First Lieutenant Robertson displayed marked courage and resourcefulness in the capture of Bouresches. With one platoon of his company on the night of 6 June 1918, in the face of heavy machine-gun barrage, he entered the town and heroically withstood vigorous attempts of superior forces to dislodge him.
