The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Navy Cross (Posthumously) to Corporal Donald M. Parker (MCSN: 88320), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the 80th Company, 6th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F. in action near Thiaucourt, France, 15 September 1918. Corporal Parker voluntarily joined an officer and with him attacked and silenced a strong machine-gun nest, menacing the left flank of the line. He held the position in the face of strong opposition until he was fatally wounded by a sniper.
