The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Captain Robert L. Nelson (MCSN: 0-709), United States Marine Corps, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service as Aide-de-Camp to the Division Commander, 2d Division, A.E.F., in the operations at St. Mihiel, Blanc Mont Ridge and the Meuse-Argonne. Captain Nelson’s service in that capacity greatly contributed to the efficiency, discipline and morale of the 2d Division.
