The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Private Chester Seth Husted (MCSN: 106854), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the Sixth Machine-Gun Battalion, Sixth Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F., in action near Blanc Mont, France, 5 October 1918. Displaying great courage and disregard for his own safety, Private Husted volunteered to carry an important message through a heavy machine-gun barrage, losing his life in attempting to carry out this mission.
