The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Prentice Selden Geer (MCSN: 106124), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the Sixty-Seventh Company, Fifth Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F., in action at Chateau-Thierry, France, on 6 June 1918. Having become isolated when the enemy counterattacked his group, Corporal Geer courageously charged with a bayonet and, with the assistance of his comrades, captured a machine-gun crew and repulsed the attack at that point.
