The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Thomas Palmer Crabbe (MCSN: 98381), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the Sixth Machine-Gun Battalion, Sixth Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F., in action near Blanc Mont Massif, France, 4 October 1918. Private Crabbe voluntarily left a sheltered position under intense enemy bombardment, dressed the wounds of four wounded men lying in a position exposed to intense enemy machine-gun fire, carried them one by one to a place of safety, and then went for a stretcher bearer to assist him in evacuating them.
