The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Navy Cross (Posthumously) to Second Lieutenant David P. Colvin (MCSN: 70679), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the 18th Company, 5th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F. in action in the Bois-de-Belleau, France, 13 June 1918. With another soldier, Lieutenant Colvin advanced under the fire of an enemy machine gun, killed four of the crew and captured the gun.
