No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Giuseppe Yannuzzi (ASN: 545479), United States Army, is cited (Posthumously) by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private Yannuzzi distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Mezy, France, 15 July 1918, while making a reconnaissance of enemy positions under fire.

    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Giuseppe Yannuzzi (ASN: 545479), United States Army, is cited (Posthumously) by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company B, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, as a German force was advancing on his platoon holding position on the Marne River, Private Yannuzzi volunteered to reconnoiter and advanced with extreme bravery and fearlessness toward the advancing enemy. He obtained most important information and in the face of heavy machine gun fire delivered it to his platoon commander, posing his life in the act.
