Williams (ASN: 2217611), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private Williams distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company I, 357th Infantry, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near St. Marie Farm, France, 15 September 1918. Although wounded, he remained at his post until ordered to the rear.
