Wagoner Wentworth distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters Company, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Exermont, France, 5 October 1918, in silencing an enemy 77-mm. piece with his 37-mm. gun.
