Webster (ASN: 2341040), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with the Medical Detachment, 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, having advanced with the 1st Battalion on 13 October 1918 in the attack on the Bois de Foret, Sergeant Webster, and the only remaining medical corps member with that organization, displayed great heroism and rendered invaluable aid in caring for the wounded. During a heavy shell and gas bombardment following the attack. Sergeant Webster showed great disregard of his personnel safety, and repeatedly risked his life by removing his mask that he might more effectively administer first aid to the wounded.
