Private Webb distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company M, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Cierges, France, 5 October 1918, while assisting wounded to shelter under fire.

No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Charley Webb (ASN: 1559087), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company M, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, on 11 and 12 October 1918, south of Cunel, and in the Boise de la Pultiere, twice went into open ground, which was swept by machine gun cross fire, and returned carrying wounded men. His action saved the lives of two men who otherwise would have bled to death.
