No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Ernest Uhrlaub (ASN: 1449970), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private Uhrlaub distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Medical Detachment, 137th Infantry, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Charpentry, France, 29 September 1918, in giving first aid to a wounded soldier under heavy shell fire.
