No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class Theodore Thompson (ASN: 544624), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private First Class Thompson distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters Company, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Crezancy, France, 15 July 1918, in remaining at an observation post for a period of nineteen hours under constant shell fire and securing valuable information.

Under constant enemy fire this soldier remained in an exposed observation post for nineteen hours, gaining valuable information, which it would have been impossible to acquire in any other manner.
