No. 43, W.D., 1918), First Sergeant Heber Tate (ASN: 1587098), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. First Sergeant Tate distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 38th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action north of Cunel, France, 16 October 1918, while directing the movements of a platoon in attack.

No. 43, W.D., 1918), First Sergeant Heber Tate (ASN: 1587098), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company C, 38th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, First Sergeant Tate held with his squad an outpost above Jaulgonne surrounded by the enemy. By his coolness and good judgment he was able to keep up fire which held up the enemy for about three hours until reinforcements arrived.
