By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Rewald W. Schubert (ASN: 306735), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private Schubert distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Battery E, 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action at Norvins Ferme, France, 15 July 1918, in bringing in a wounded soldier under heavy shell fire.

While serving with Battery E, 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private Shubert displayed exceptional heroism at Norvins Farm, France, 15 July 1918. He voluntarily carried a wounded man five hundred yards under heavy enemy fire to a place of safety. He also voluntarily accompanied his Battery Commander on a dangerous mission.
