By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Charles A. Collier, Private Anton Reusbeck (Revsbeck), Private Clarence W. Owen, Private Andrew Yansezskas, and Private Milovan Bigovich, United States Army, are cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded them. While serving with Battery F, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, these men were members of the detached gun crew which was to guard the Mezy Bridge on the night of 14 July 1918. All of these men showed the greatest amount of courage on that night, in the defense of our lines, and used their gun with direct fire on the enemy infantry and machine guns, which had advanced to within 300 meters. They destroyed several machine gun crews and held up part of the line in front of the enemy until force from casualties and the superior number of the enemy to withdraw. Before withdrawing, the breechblock was dismantled and the small parts taken away. This gun was in no way entrenched and the piece was located entirely in the open.
