By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Captain (Infantry) Robert G. Moss, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Captain Moss distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with the 369th Infantry, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Cunel, France, 8 October 1918, while leading a combat patrol which returned with valuable information.

Moss, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with the 38th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Captain Moss showed exceptional personal heroism, leadership, and initiative on 22 July 1918, near Franquet Farm, France. His Company, protecting the flank of the Battalion, was flanked on both sides, by strong forces of the enemy. By his inspiring example he maintained great steadiness in his platoons and accomplished his mission.
