By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Charles H. Moore (ASN: 306750), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery E, 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Sergeant Moore rendered conspicuous service in battle at the time of the German onslaught on the night of 14 – 15 July 1918, and on 15 July 1918, at Norvins Ferme, near the Marne River, France, displaying extraordinary heroism and initiative in carrying out his duty in keeping up the supply of ammunition, regardless of personal danger, under heavy shell fire, and in carrying wounded under severe fire of high explosive and gas shells.
