Lively (ASN: 1342823), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private Lively distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company G, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Medeah Ferme, France, 8 October 1918, in attacking and capturing an enemy machine gun in No Man’s Land, using the gun they fired on the enemy until their corporal was killed.
