Lewis (ASN: 1468984), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Master Engineer, Junior Grade, Lewis distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters Detachment, 110th Engineers, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Baulny, France, 30 September 1918, in making a personal reconnaissance through an enemy barrage.
