No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class William Jones (ASN: 297179), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private First Class Jones distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Battery A, 119th Field Artillery Regiment, 32d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Chery Chartreuve, France, 11 August 1918, in returning to the horse line under heavy shell fire and taking care of the horses.
