Johnson (ASN: 1377320), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Sergeant Johnson distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Battery B, 123d Field Artillery, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Verdun, France, 30 September 1918, in voluntarily giving first aid to the wounded under violent shell fire.
