By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal Watts Jaworski (ASN: 1550650), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery C, 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Montfaucon, France, on 7 October 1918, Corporal Jaworski showed extraordinary bravery and devotion to duty in action in serving his gun through a heavy hostile shelling, and keeping up his barrage fire after three members of his gun crew were wounded. Corporal Jaworski stayed with his gun and kept up the fire ordered until it was damaged and put out of action by hostile fire.
