Ellsworth (ASN: 15942), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private First Class Ellsworth distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters Detachment, 2d Brigade, American Expeditionary Forces, in action at Mont d’Arly, France, 19 July 1918, in driving his motorcycle, on an important mission, through a heavy bombardment.
