First Lieutenant (Infantry) Doye distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company I, 38th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Romagne, France, 9 October 1918, while directing his company in attack until he was wounded.
