No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Benjamin Diamond, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private Diamond distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Medical Department, 320th Machine-Gun Battalion, 82d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, France, 16 October 1918, in going to the aid of a wounded man during which act he was injured by a bursting shell.
