By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), First Sergeant Andrew J. Bostock, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. First Sergeant Bostock distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Battery E, 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Chateau-Thierry, France, 14 – 15 July 1918, while carrying ammunition to his battery.

While serving with the 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, First Sergeant Bostock displayed exceptional courage at Le Norvins Farm, France, 15 July 1918. While his battery was under heavy enemy fire he rendered valuable services in encouraging his men and in going out under heavy fire to locate ammunition supplies deserted by other artillery units.
