First Lieutenant Lennon distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with 27th Aero Squadron, 1st Pursuit Group, 1st Army, American Expeditionary Forces, in action during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, France, 4 November 1918, in preventing an enemy plane from accomplishing important work.
