By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Saddler George T. Hill (ASN: 1273169), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Saddler Hill distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company D, 112th Machine-Gun Battalion, 29th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action on 13 October 1918, north of Brabant, France, during a retaliatory barrage on Hill 382, 24.5-81.7, in recovering a machine gun whose crew had been driven away, and in continuing to operate same without assistance until ordered to withdraw.
