Hammesfahr (ASN: 2308341), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Battalion Sergeant Major Hammesfahr distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with the 4th Machine-Gun Battalion, American Expeditionary Forces, in action at Blanc Mont Ridge, Champagne front, France, 3 – 4 October 1918, in removing the wounded to a place of safety.
