No. 43, W.D., 1918), First Lieutenant Howard Grose, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. First Lieutenant Grose distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving as Aide-de-Camp, Headquarters, 83d Infantry Brigade, American Expeditionary Forces, in action on 28 July 1918, near Foret de Fere, France, in personally delivering an important message under shell fire.
