Private First Class Ginapp distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Machine Gun Company, 138th Infantry Regiment, American Expeditionary Forces, in carrying a wounded comrade to cover while subject to heavy fire from pill-boxes at the base of Vauquois Hill, France, during World War I.
