No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Seman Gideon (ASN; 559538), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Sergeant Gideon distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company A, 58th Infantry Regiment, American Expeditionary Forces, in action northeast of Montfaucon, France, from 29 September to 3 October 1918, in assuming command of and reorganizing Companies A and B after all the officers had been killed.
