Gauvin (ASN: 1745734), United States Army, is cited (Posthumously) by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private First Class Gauvin distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with the Medical Detachment, 311th Infantry Regiment, 78th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action on 24 October 1918, at Grand Pre, France, in giving prompt aid to the wounded under heavy enemy fire.
