Sergeant Forrest distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, France, 12 October 1918, in assuming command of and leading his platoon forward.
